CSDI Awards 2024 Exchange in Shanghai and Deqing Highlight

The CSDI Awards 2024 expanded its reach with a new segment in Shanghai and Deqing, Zhejiang, scheduled from 16 to 19 August. This initiative brought together this year’s competition finalists from Junior Secondary, Senior Secondary and Open Categories and representatives from the Spatial Data Office and the Geospatial Lab under the Development Bureau (hereinafter referred to as "the Exchange Group"), for an enriching exchange program in Shanghai and Deqing.

The Exchange Group visited the United Nations Global Geospatial Knowledge and Innovation Center in Deqing, the Moganshan Geospatial Information Laboratory, and the Geographic Information Science and Technology Museum. These visits provided invaluable opportunities to engage with mainland leading geospatial experts and scholars, gaining insights into their research and technological advancements, as well as the implementation of innovative projects and experiences in industrial upgrades.

Further expanding the scope of the program, the Exchange Group explored the role of spatial data in transportation systems through visits to the EV Data and the Shanghai Auto Museum. These excursions offered valuable insights into public data collection and monitoring practices, with participants experiencing autonomous vehicles firsthand, showcasing the transformative potential of spatial data in everyday life.

During the visit to the Lingang Special Area of China (Shanghai), finalists from the Open Category showcased their competition entries and design concepts to local enterprises, fostering potential collaborations. The Exchange Group also engaged with facilities such as the Shanghai Experience Center of Digitization and Intelligence, the Wisdom Library in Lingang, and the Dishui Lake AI Innovation Hub, gaining firsthand exposure to cutting-edge technological advancements.

The Exchange aimed to highlight the diverse applications of spatial data and its integration into daily life. By fostering interactions with mainland geospatial experts and scholars, the program inspired participants to explore and develop innovative spatial data applications, ultimately contributing to future advancements in the field.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the mainland geospatial experts, scholars, participants, and staff for their invaluable contributions to the Shanghai Exchange.

We look forward to continuing to engage with the public through our upcoming activities. Stay tuned for more updates!
