Theme: Neighbourhood exploration to enhance local tourism by applying GIS and spatial data
Participants can consider adopting one of the below topics to align with the theme:
- Identify and explore local attractions
- GIS modelling for pedestrian/traffic flow
- Integrate BIM and GIS for visualization and analysis
- Smart travel with crowd avoidance
- Plan/develop routes for local or ecotour
- Combine census to develop demographic profiles for different district, event or service
- Show smart use of CSDI data to create an application that will enhance local tourism
- Show smart use of CSDI 3D data to create a story, movie or games to introduce the local attractions
- Create a dashboard for reporting the application of route planning for local tourism. In addition, new, useful and applicable spatial data (other than those available from CSDI portal and Open data source) must be created or generated from the project itself
Details
Participants may adopt GIS and spatial data (either from Geodata Store, Open Data source, and/or self-collected) to promote local attractions and plan pragmatic routes. This category asks for a project with a clear focus on by making good use of spatial data, effective spatial analysis, communicative cartography, attractive presentation, and complete documentation.
Project Criteria
1. Ask a geographic question and/or develop a hypothesis to test a theory
2. The project must create new data either collected by the participants from own's field survey or from the result of GIS modelling
3. Explore geographic data and spatial pattern
4. Must perform any spatial analysis or GIS modelling
5. Demonstrate that the analytical results can be acted on and/or applied to real life to help solving a problem or making a wise decision
