Objective
To embrace innovation and technology in fostering a smart city in Hong Kong, the role of geospatial technology is essential. As institutions and the market are actively in search of talents for smart city development, how does the young generation equip themselves with geospatial technology to meet the rising demand? The talk invited representatives from two tertiary institutions. They will introduce a wide range of applications in the field of geospatial technology. During the event, there will be students’ sharing sessions and advanced mapping equipment demonstration, in order to provide useful information for youngsters considering a career in the industry.

Introduction of Guest Speakers
Dr. Chen Si, Sissi
Dr. Sissi Chen is an environmental health geographer. She is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She specializes in urban greenery, air pollution, GIS, and environmental health. In recent years, her research has extended to plant ecology and the functions of vegetation in urbanized areas, as well as mobile GIS geospatial technologies. She is a certified arborist of the International Society of Arboriculture and a member of the Hong Kong Geographic Information System Association (HKGISA).
Ms. SIU Cheuk Ying, Cherrie
Ms. SIU is a land surveyor who possesses over 10 years professional experiences covering geospatial data analysis and management, 3D mapping, laser scanning and land surveying. She worked not only in Hong Kong but also in China and Switzerland. Currently Ms SIU has been actively engaged in nurturing students and younger generation in Geospatial Science and Land Surveying community.
Mr. Yau Yu Chun, Leo
Mr. Yau is an Assistant Lecturer at IVE and an alumnus of the Hydoclimate Extremes Lab at PolyU. He primarily educates on leveraging GIS and Remote Sensing in addressing urban challenges and has a special interest in studying extreme weather and climate events, enhancing resilience and sustainability in city planning and infrastructure.
