Objective

As an important spatial data source, remote sensing images have been widely used to record the current states of the physical environment at various spatial scales and to keep tracks of changes left behind due to natural and human causes. This talk will introduce some basics of remote sensing and how remote sensing data are applied to understand and study the local environment and also the world.

Introduction of Guest Lecturer

Dr. Frankie Wong

Dr. Frankie Wong is currently a senior lecturer of Department of Geography Resource Management, and the Associate Dean (Student Affairs) of the Faculty of Social Science, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His teaching fields are in remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems. His research interests include spatial mapping and analysis, technology-enhanced teaching and learning in geography discipline such as location-based learning, augmented reality and virtual reality. He has led many research projects to foster the application of advanced technologies in geography education.

Dr. Wong obtained his MPhil and PhD in CUHK.
