Details
Objective
Free and open-source software (FOSS) are applications that users can freely access and modify their source code. FOSS GIS provides alternatives to proprietary software. This workshop introduces the basics of QGIS and Python - two popular open-source GIS for handling geospatial tasks.
Intended Audience
Parties and individuals with experience using GIS and fundamental understanding of GIS

2. Tour in Geospatial Lab, with showcases and demonstrations (Face-to-face session only)

Introduction of Guest Lecturer
Mr. Kenneth Wong
Kenneth is currently a teaching assistant and researcher at The Department of Urban Planning and Design, The University of Hong Kong (HKU), in which he received his M.Sc in Urban Planning and B.A. in Urban Studies. His works lay in geospatial data manipulation, analysis and visualisation for various urban planning/analytics projects. The outputs range among academic papers, web articles, web map applications and interactive charts. As an urbanist, he is passionate about developing Geographic Information System (GIS) applications for urban planning and built environment.
