Details
The spatial history project “Hong Kong 1941” uses geographic information systems (GIS) to build a web map about the Battle of Hong Kong and a database of British military installations in Hong Kong during the Second World War. It offers an easy-to-use historical database for educators, tourists, and conservation professionals. The background of the project, making process and the characteristics of the web map will be introduced in the talk.

Introduction of Guest Lecturers
Dr. Kwong Chi Man
Dr. Kwong Chi Man is an expert on Hong Kong and Asian military history and an Associate Professor at the Department of History at Hong Kong Baptist University, with a PhD from the University of Cambridge's Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. Backed by historical records in Australia, China, Japan, United States, and the United Kingdom, Dr. Kwong's studies tell the story of Hong Kong's changing strategic role in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries as well as the people's experience. Dr. Kwong's conservation activities, with an emphasis on high culture, range from academic seminars, government projects, to digital interactive maps for creative commons. In order to maximize the research's impacts, he is also open to popular culture and industrial collaboration including but not limited to tourism, gaming and films.
Mr. Joe, Kin San Wong
Mr. Joe, Kin San Wong is an experienced director with a demonstrated history of working in the marketing and advertising industry. Skilled in digital strategy, content marketing, business development, account servicing, and marketing strategy. Strong professional with a higher diploma focused in marketing from Institute of Vocational Education. Mr. Wong has over 15 years experience in consultation of digital transformation, user experience optimisation and digital marketing.
