Details

Theme

Environment and Health

A series of talks and workshops related to the theme will be held in the coming months

1. Talk - GIS in Public Health Management and Practice
2. Talk - GIS in Environmental Management and Modeling
3. Workshop - Disease Mapping and environmental monitoring

Objective

Geographical Information System (GIS) is a powerful decision-support tool used to answer the question of “where”, “when” and “what” virus/disease may be spreading. GIS has been used extensively in epidemiology study (e.g., disease surveillance) and healthcare industry (e.g., resource planning). The talk will demonstrate the use of GIS and multiple sources of geospatial data for location-based analysis to support healthcare planning and public health decision-making. Examples of spatial applications will be introduced and discussed.

Intended Audience

Parties and individuals interested in spatial data
