Design Thinking Training Activities

"Spatial Data Craft"

Details

Objective

Hong Kong faces challenges of high population density and limited land resources, requiring innovative yet evidence-based solutions that balance diverse community needs with environmental capacity. Design thinking centred on a "human-centric" approach systematically examines user needs and employs rapid prototyping for testing and improvement, transforming complex urban contexts into actionable innovation strategies.

We designed a series of Design Thinking training activities. Through professional guidance, participants will apply Design Thinking with the use of spatial data to develop innovative solutions for urban development.

Introduction to Design Thinking

The seminar will introduce the fundamentals of Design Thinking and practical tools. Using local and international cases, participants will learn to identify challenges and design human-centred solutions to address urban and social needs.

Design Thinking Workshop

The workshop, including a community visit (physical or virtual), will guide participants to explore development opportunities in the Northern Metropolis. Using Design Thinking tools, participants will analyse community needs and envision Hong Kong's future development from a foresight-led perspective. By integrating Design Thinking and spatial data, participants will collaboratively develop innovative planning solutions tailored to community needs.

Intended Audience

Parties, students and individuals interested in design thinking, or spatial data
