Activities

1. Regional Transport Network in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area: Past, Present and Future (Talk)

    • The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is a global leader in transport infrastructure and networks due to extensive regional planning and development. This talk will discuss its history, achievements, and the important role of transport in economic and social growth. It will also explore its future developments, and the potential impacts on the continued success of the Bay Area, as well as incorporate the perspectives of Hong Kong citizens on its implications.

2. Application of 3D Pedestrian Network (Workshop)

    • As a densely populated city, Hong Kong requires a comprehensive 3D Pedestrian Network (3DPN) to support its spatial planning and analysis. Since 2022, the Lands Department has made the dataset available to the public through the Common Spatial Data Infrastructure Portal (CSDI Portal). In this workshop, we will demonstrate how this dataset can be used to perform some simple spatial and network analyses.

Introduction of Guest Lecturers

Dr. Zhang Feng

Dr. Zhang Feng obtained his Ph.D. in urban planning from University of Maryland. Previously, he was Senior Lecturer in the Department of Urban Planning and Design at the University of Hong Kong. Additionally, he has served as an instructor at both Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School and Southern University of Science and Technology. Presently, he is the programme coordinator for the Master of Arts in Transport Policy and Planning (MATPP) programme at the University of Hong Kong. His area of specialization lies in transport planning and research on travel behavior.


Mr. Evan Cheung

Mr. Evan Cheung currently holds the position of Honorary Treasurer at HKGISA. He is pursuing a PhD in the Department of Urban Planning and Design at the University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on urban green spaces, built environment design, high-density development, and their impact on population health, utilizing big data and GIS technology.
