Professor Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Mr Mak Tak Wai, Eddie, Permanent Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Mr Lam Wai Kiu, Victor, Government Chief Information Officer and other bureau officials visited Geospatial Lab today (14 September).

Mr Albert SU Yau-on, Chief Executive of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals and Dr Winnie Tang Shuk-ming, Founder and Honorary President of Smart City Consortium (SCC), introduced the mission and overview of Geospatial Lab.

Professor Sun Dong and other officials visited the facilities of Geospatial Lab and listened to the demonstrations below to understand more about how spatial data and Geographic Information System (GIS) support smart city development.

  • The Chairman of Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) Committee, Dr Kenneth Tang, introduced the Integrated Geospatial Collaborative Platform (IGCP) for Academic and Applied Research, focusing on

    • Land utilisation planning in Hong Kong and
    • the GIS-based "Building Information Modelling"

  • Staff from GeoLab introduced

    • Urban Renewal Information System (URIS) and
    • Winning entry (Senior Secondary Category) of the 2022 Open GIS Competition, using GIS to explore the livability of TKO
